Default Rising sun badge

Hello, been trying to find out about this badge for a while but have only come across one faded black and white picture with no information so far. Wondering if anybody on here could possibly shed some light on it. Please excuse my photography skills or lack of skills.

Hi SimonUK,

That's a nice looking badge, it does appear in Cossum's book on the "Rising Sun Badge" on the front page but with out description or comment and it does not appear in any of the subsequent illustrations in the book and I cant tell if its enamelled or not.

By the look of it, it is of collar badge size, ie about 38mm across the scroll ends. Nurses throat badges and ones for the ladies slouch hat have pins as do some sweet heart badges. However the book does not show a similar badge with the stars over laid on the suns rays.

Could you please tell us what the lettering on the back is as its not readable.

Regards

Phil.

I would say sweetheart badge in silver. There is a nice variety of Rising Sun Sweetheart badges with stars. Most likely WWII era....

Thanks for the replies, we were thinking sweetheart but couldn't find any info or images. The back reads T.L.M Sterling Thomas L Mott. My mother inherited it when her mother died. It was in her jewellery box. We have no idea why she had it though.
