Question Royal Tank Regt QC

I would value opinions on this Royal Tank Regt QC cap badge, is it "New metal" or made for the collectors market?

I think it's the latter but I am happy to be corrected.

My opinion is buy a nice KC version as then you can be sure of its authenticity

Evanescent metal QCs 50/60s, authorised but not issued, ‘repros’ sold via PRI ‘80s onwards, and now the ‘New Metal’ issue.

Also I bet plenty genuine current issue badges are made only destined for sale in regimental museum shop etc. to visitors and collectors.

Depending on one’s views on each the above there are a lot of grey areas.

When (and where) you bought it may provide some clue to those more informed than I.

The issued ones have lugs.

Default Royal Tank Regt QC

Thanks for the replies, I have several KC versions and an A/A QC badge as well but this one crept into my collection from somewhere and as I am currently sorting badges I thought I would post it.

I have found several badges that have been put in boxes from years back and this is one of them.

I may keep it as a curiosity although I did not notice any for sale in Bovington museum shop when I last visited, maybe they had sold out, although there were several Tank Corps on offer.

Default RTR Cap Badges.

The RTR Regimental shop usually has a selection of current cap badges for sale.

If it is from ‘years back’ I would suggest it is not new metal and certainly a repro unless it had some provenance it was actually worn.
