Royal Navy button oddities
Two Officers style rope edged buttons, the first is 23.4mm and has a brown "bronze" coating much like some Army OSD insignia which seems out of place with a Naval Uniform, could it be WW1 RN Division?
The second is I think a Zink alloy with a shiny black paint coating 25.4mm. Rob |

The first is the bronze button worn by officers on shore service with khaki uniform which would have included the RND. "October 1916 to c1919 also in bronze finish when wearing khaki drill", from British Naval Officers' Buttons by Derek Barker.
The second button looks like a fashion item. David. |
