Ras Al Khaimah (RAK) collar badges
Good morning
These arrived yesterday as part of a job lot: Ras Al Khaimah (RAK) anodised aluminium collar badges (22 x 29mm). Not sure if they are still used, or whether they were used by the military (RAK Mobile Force) or police. Graham

RAS
RAS collars are probably the 1976 issue to the Ras Al Khaimah Military Force that went into the Northern Military Command and then in 1978-1980s into the reorganised UAE Military forces as 2Bde (Al Badr). However, they may be the same as Lt Col David Neild had when he started the fledgling RASMF from late 1969. He said the badges were brass coloured. What sort of fittings do they have, may be a clue. There is a photo of him wearing in uniform and the collars can just about be seen. That's page 41 of the Middle East at War series by Helion No. 16 volume 1: Trucial States and United Arab Emirates, 1951-1980.
For any one reading this, Vol 4 Kuwait, Bahrain, and Qatar is down to the last 250 word. Wont be long. Cliff Lord aka Quicksilver |

I would think that they are post 1976-1980s. Only a guess mind you. The ones worn by David Neild were worn in the 60s-eary 70s and probably a hand full made. The badge worn on the buckle, show in the photo on page 40 is metal leading me to think that David's collars are brass.
