RSDG ??
Hi. Looking through RSDG badges the other day i came across these patches all of which claim to be used by the rgt. The first two i think are okay commanders crew and tank crew badges but the others ???

The first two are RSDG badges commercially made for the collector, the third is 1 Royal Welsh (also suspect), no idea on the last ones.

Thank you marc. I have the first one [ lion ] only on a yellow background i was thinking of getting the tank badge but you say these are for the collectors market does this mean they are not actually worn by the rgt.
I did not think the others had anything to do with the RSDG but also did not know the single one was welsh and like you no idea what the others are supposed to be. Thanks again. Iain |

The original Tank badge is embroidered on twill, not woven.

HI as Marc said the the challenger arm badge shown is a collectors item The original where issued to tank crews when training in Germany I believe they were given to crew members by the manufactures of the tanks- a scarce item
The commanding officers tank and land rover crews arm badge is very scarce as a genuine item If you are interested in R.S.D.G placed some items in my album[Lassiepen49 and in the gallery THE tank arm badge shown is a repro like yours David Last edited by 49lassiepen; 20-09-14 at 11:59 AM. Thank you David. A nice collection of RSDG you have there i did not know there was so many variations of the POW plumes.
Last night i was trawling through google etc and made a note The C.O tank crew first appeared 1983 in Canada for a tournament ? to distinquisgh rgt competitors i think it read, then again in 1985, and now worn by Commanding officers crew and driver. what i read may have come from this aite so see if i can find it again. Quote:
Not many of the badges were actually worn as they were handed to the RQMS, who had them in a draw. Marc |
