Default RM Tombstone Badge

Gents,

Came across this example of the Hammer & Pincers, a Royal Marine Tombstone Red on Navy. Does anyone know what era this badge is from? Many thanks

Armourer

The RM titles did not come in to use until 1923 when the RMLI & RMA merged so this particular outfit is more likely post 1923 and not WWI vintage.

Hope know one minds an interloper here. Question what makes this piece RM as opposed to RN. I see the reference to the red on navy. I had always thought these were navy insignia.

Please see the link to a family history webpage. John Gower was an Armourer in the RMLI and is seen wearing the arm badge in 1915.
