Army Council Instruction - Volunteers for transfer to the RAF
I would like to see the text of an Army Council Instruction (ACI) published in late 1940 or early 1941 which called for volunteers to transfer to the Royal Air Force.
My father was a pre war Territorial Army Royal Artillery Gunner mobilised on 3 September 1939 and served in Anti-Aircraft units based on various RAF Stations in East Anglia and the East Midlands. He apparently responded to the ACI and in April 1941 was selected to train in Canada as an Observer. From December 1942 he served in Coastal Command from bases in Scotland and Iceland and then with the South African Airforce as an Observer/Navigator on Anti-Submarine patrols based around Durban and Cape Town. Any help appreciated as I am putting together his war service history for the family. Tim
