Default ..another Pith with LRDG badge

Been a few weeks, so I suppose it's time to see another Pith with an LRDG badge?

1936 Peshawar on the North West Frontier of India, and a newly arrived young officer marched smartly into the Adjutant's office wearing immaculate khaki drill and his solar topee.

"Pith off" ordered the Adjutant!

"But thirr" lisped the young officer, I've only just arrived!

Not sure that is even a British sun helmet, possibly Italian or a Civvy example but from the only pic it looks Indo China perhaps.
An underside pic would help but as it is all obviously bollo# it does not matter

Default LRDG pith helmets

Somewhere, in the deepest darkest loft of an old persons home, (who must have a telegram from the Queen around at least) lays a box full of LRDG memoribilia.

I don't think this is out of that loft . . !

I knew a very private person who had a historically important suit case that lived in the dark confines of his garage that was "full of LRDG memorabilia."

There wasn’t “a telegram from the Queen,” but among the extensive collection of one man’s interesting journey through life, there was an extremely important LRDG letter from the Queen which I have provided a snippet of below.

The suit case also contained a big bag of unissued LRDG cap badges and shoulder titles.

Do I believe in the two sun hats on offer? I have doubts as neither helmet is of a type that was issued to New Zealand LRDG members, and the cast LRDG badges do not inspire me.

Why the masked out name? Surely it is common knowledge who the letter is to and in any case he's been dead since 2001.

Is this a dasterdly ploy to put it out there, so that future 'finds' will be from 'The suitcase'. Mmmmmn

Tyne it is indeed obvious to those who have an interest in the LRDG, but for your information, it is out of respect for the son who was gracious enough to share his father’s LRDG collection with me that I have not posted the family name or the complete letter.

Just out of interest I had talked the son into sharing the entire collection with this very forum, with the only stipulation that the family name would not be mentioned and blanked out in all photographs, which might otherwise attract unwanted solicitation of LRDG memorabilia.
Sadly, due to a couple of forum members making dumb comments, the family requested that no more photos were to be posted. Such is life.

Now I know you and the last two who have commented are just trying to lighten the atmosphere, and I respect that, but there is no dastardly plot, I do have photographs of the suitcases inventory, so if there is a so called “future find” I am in the perfect position to corroborate or dismiss its validity.

I am afraid your PERSEC is lacking. A simple Google of the post nominals is more than enough......
