Default Hertfordshire Regiment Badge - Real or Copy

Hi,

Please could someone advise if this Hertfordshire Regiment Badge is real or a copy? The construction of it is solid, but as you will see, the back is not crisp.

I have read many of the posts on these but am still confused as to how the dots / horns / writing are supposed to line up on an original badge.

Any assistance would be much appreciated if possible.

Many thanks.

Hi Stma, unfortunately not an original badge, easiest give away is the small dent on the inner circle just above the right antler and below the second H in Hertfordshire, are you after a Hertfordshire badge ?

Here is the die struck example of the fake wide antlers with the same nick on the circlet.
Which leads to the question if any wide antler versions are genuine?

Hi CB, there are definitely more genuine narrow antler Hertfordshire Regt badges but but the wide antler ones were also genuine , I have quite a few in my collection along with pictures of both types in wear , if I get time I’ll try to hunt them out !

Hi,

Many thanks all for your posts.

Gerard, in answer to your question, I have this one which I think is genuine.

I still have doubts though, as I am not convinced with the way the slider joins to the badge, as I have never seen this type of joint where the slider is folded over several times and joined to the badge. Normally, the sliders are as far as I am aware, brazed directly to the badges. In addition, I am not sure on whether the letters, horns, dots etc... are right.

What do you think?

Many thanks
