Wessex badge

Rescued this from a cabinet in a local antique shop.

Obviously lacking a lug on one side. Is this a cap badge or a collar ? and although it looks silver am I right in thinking that it is plated ?.

Would these have been worn by elements of the 43rd Wessex Div in WW2 ?

(just found a similar badge on a search for images classed as KK 2030, The Wessex Brigade, Officers silver 1958-1969) mine seems very similar ... but if silver surely should be hallmarked ?)

It's probably silver plate cap badge so no hallmark. Worn by the Wessex Regt TA up to 1992.
