Default Fake LRDG Beret on eBay

A brief note of warning to any prospective bidders. A beret with fake LRDG cloth badge on eBay, item number 231779834339.

This beret has been doing the rounds, I was shown it at the Chelmsford Military Fair earlier this year. The cloth badge is of recent manufacture.

Yes there were cloth LRDG badges. One is illustrated in Jonathan Pittaways book on the LRDG.

The fake beret on eBay was sold for £753.47

If only the buyer had been on this forum and read the post...

Wow....

We all make mistakes from time to time and occasionally pay over the odds for something special but this is beyond belief....

Yikes! And a 2nd bidder not far behind. In the photos he had the beret turned every which way from Sunday but never what I would call a close up shot of the badge.

281889459022 on ebay. Is this really an officially licenced item for veterans?

An early Christmas present for the seller...

As I said in my first post, the embroidered LRDG badge attached to the beret is of recent manufacture. I was offered the beret at the Chelmsford Military Fair earlier this year, the asking price was £45.00.

At the Chelmsford fair I used my phone to take a photo of the badge on the beret...

Shocking - nothing like Arnhem's badge in Jonathan's book which is a cracker! I hope it is OK with both of them to share an image ...

Seasons greetings to all and good hunting in 2016
