Question Royal Warwickshire OSD

Do we have any Royal Warwickshire collectors that can help with my OSD's?

I have two with blades, one normal size and one with a small antelope which originally had three blades, one now missing, is this a cap badge or a collar badge?

Thanks in advance.

Rob

I believe that there is a photo of Bruce Bairnsfather wearing a similar badge (which I had taken to be a collar badge) in his cap.

Smile Royal Warwickshire OSD

I have always thought that this was a cap badge as opposed to a collar, I have not seen any photos of Bruce Bairnsfather, but thanks, I will investigate.

Hi Rob,

These are my normal size Royal Warwickshire badges that had/have blades.

Unfortunately, I don't have any small size Royal Warwickshire badges with blades to show you.

Cheers,

Invest

Cool Royal Warwickshire OSD

Thanks invest for putting up you Royal Warwickshire OSD's a nice collection you have, I think my badge is definitely a cap badge having been told that Bruce Bairnsfather wore similar one.

I think the old adage that OSD cap badges had blades and collars had loops is still worth bearing in mind when you are out buying badges. The number of dealers who try to sell OSD's with loops as cap badges either through ignorance or greed still happens, of course officers dress badges sometimes have either loops or blades which tends to muddy the waters to a sellers advantage.
