Belgian "A Wing" Para Wings (Plastic Impressed)
Reference: "Parachute Badges and Insignia of the World" by RJ Bragg & Roy Turner:
a. plate 33, Item 451; and b. page 176, description of plate 33. I started out seeing the badge in the first photo on ebay and wondered what the plastic embossed badge construction was all about. I found more of these badges on ebay (pics 2,3, and 4). I had a look through my books and located the wings in above mentioned reference. The wings are Belgian "plastic impressed" wings. Belgian "A" wing with the little man under canopy. Ref a. provides an image of these wings. Construction is described at Ref b. : "...also a process of impressing plastic in relief on to felt or Vinyl is used.". I don't have a set of these wings in my collection, yet. This is for information/discussion. Steve J.
