AMMO UK
HI good evening , ive been ofer a big bag of anodised capbadges , a few of the badges are stamped up ` AMMO UK` ? are these fakes please ? also , is it true that if the slider has no markings at all these are not classed as genuine badges but made by the badge firms and sold on the quite to dealers out side of a military contact ? ? not my area at all , many thanks Michael.

blank slidered badges are just as likely to be genuine to those that are marked.. It all depends on age, what badge or what it is made from.. The AMMO badges will not be anodised (aluminium) but a modern high gilt or silvered metal finish. The AMMO badges are not issued but made for sale to collectors and PRI shops etc.. I would not pay more than £1-2 each for them if buying in bulk.. Andy |

As Andy says. Ammo UK make metal and cloth cap badges under licence. They are Private purchase and normally thicker and better quality than the QM issued ones. So Genuine, worn by many soldiers myself included, just not issued.

So deserving of a place in the makers' marks section?

I was led to believe that in the mid to late 90`s they were supplying the MPSC capbadges.

Many thanks for the help , Iive bought the lot as the price was right , I will post pictures Incase theres owt to jump up an down about , not my area at all but a few that stand out are a Duke of Wellingtons with lugs / not a slider a dark brown / black queens crown jewish chaplins ( this feels more metal ? ) and a Royal HIGHLAND fusiliers where the front ` silver ` design has been fastened to the badge with two nuts and bolts ? is this normal ?
Also !!!!! some of the badges appear to have brass sliders or am I mistaken ta, many thanks ,Michael. Last edited by NEMO; 14-06-11 at 08:26 PM. |

AMMO UK
In the last few years I brought 3 x MPSC badges from the MPSC Staff Association and they were all marked AMMO UK

AMMO UK
I have just received a Royal Logistic Corps metal & enamel badge with maker mark AMMO UK. A forum member put up a list of badges made by these but I am sure the RLC were not on there. Has any one come across this one??
It is a one piece badge made from "brass" and seems to be enameled (but could be painted) Sorry about bad pictures
