Haven't A Clue ?
This is a large badge and at first thought it may be an arm badge or may be a pouch badge . The slider on it is very small so it well might be a restrike . What do you think .

Some sources indicate that this badge or type of badge was worn by Schools of Musketry. In a string on another board, the badge was reported to have been worn by some soldiers in the Canadian School of Musketry, but that has not been verified.
There were other unique patterns of badges for the Canadian School of Musketry, but this badge, from the imperial army was also reportedly used. |

This is one of the imperial cross over badges worn by Canadians in the School of musketry .I have seen PC evidence of this in wear in the past.

Hi Spencer, No it is not a Canadian badge, it is a badge for the School of Musketry, British army (sometimes called the imperial army by "colonials" and others). The badge was also used by the Canadian School of Musketry.

Hi
I have just found it in my John Gaylor book . It says " School Of Musketry " . and later redesignated the Small Arms School , hythe . In 1923 it combined with the Machine Gun School . |

I have one of these Caps, but also a larger version in wm, with red felt clipped on behind the crown. Have thought this to be a 'Qualification ' badge ? 2 Lugs, N&S.
Any info available out there ? Cheers ! Steve Last edited by dragonz18; 12-04-08 at 12:39 AM. |

Alan,
thanks, I know that one, in brass & usually found with 4 lugs there.Worn on the lower sleeve. Will dig this one out, soonish, & post a pic ,with the other also for a size comparison. Have just (this evening) been told of a pic of a Kiwi ( photocopy of a postcard, 1st Canterbury Regt.), somewhere in England ( where many Empire troops attended specialist courses), wearing this on the RH sleeve(at least on 1 side, from the photo's angle) above his Sgts. stripes, with crossed cannons ,on a dark background square beneath( touching lower chevron)?? On his left can be seen a single wound stripe. Dated 7-2-1918. ????? Doubt that this is just an NZ thing, though. Can get his name also? Would seem to be more than just a qualification badge here then ? But it is in the right place ,as I 'have'nt a clue' to what it represents. Cheers !
