Default Edward James Neville Sawkins - MN

I'm trying to find out if the E J N Sawkins received any medals for WW1 ? He was a Boatswain in the Merchant Navy in WW2 when he died aged 61. I can't find out too much about him but I know he was a "seaman" in 1901 - so I assume he was in the Mercantile Marine during WW1 ( but he might have joined the RN ? ) - Any help much appreciated Tim

Hi Tim,
Is he Edward James Sawkins b.1882 in Essex?
If so he was issued Mercantile Marine and War medals in 1923.
I downloaded the card for free, so if it is your man PM me an email and I will send it on to you,
Regards Gary

Many thanks Gary - that's my man ! PM sent .

I look after his war grave in Clevedon - there can't be many who served in both wars and ended up with a grave on land !
