A thread from 2017 :
"An nice shot of two RHA gunners wearing the badge not officially introduced until 1948 although as this wartime shot shows, widely worn anyway, in this case in the khaki beret. Probably BAOR circa 1946/47." https://www.britishbadgeforum.com/fo...ad.php?t=59508 .

Looks like a modern badge and beret, post 1952.
The problem as I see it,is that although an RHA officer could be attached to a Regt that wore a khaki beret. Surely the regimental backing would be worn ,Guards,Mercian,Yorkshire,PWRR all wear a.khaki beret but with a.backing patch. Cant think of a current Regt that wears a khaki beret without any kind of backing patch . Only the Guards way back and Pioneer corps for a time in the 80s. If it was one of these I'd expect wear to the badge and beret. IMO it's been made up. |

Possibly an Officer attached to 4/73 (Sphinx) Special Observation Post Battery Royal Artillery. Members of the Battery have worn the Khaki beret since 2008.

I agree with Mark 4/73.
There is no reason to add that badge to that beret fraudulently. |

Marc,
I cannot say if this particular beret is from an HAC attachment, but that is what happens. Chris |

4/73 is open to all regiments in the Army not just RA is it not? So are you saying it's only Other Ranks that this applies to and all Officers have to be RA?

Not necessarily HAC. RHA officer serving and infantry attachment the Guards etc might wear the same.
