They just keep coming... Another tunic to parse..
The number of tunics that appear on ebay with questionable provenance just keep coming.
Another one to parse... http://www.ebay.com/itm/Named-WW2-Ca...item2c6267d814 Right off the bat, the soldiers number is a Reserve Force number. F6xxxxxx are for No 60 BTC (Basic Training Centre). How this tunic ended up as a signal qualified Cape Breton Highlander would be interesting research...

Perhaps the owner had been a reservist (underage?) and then went active.

A possibility. However, if he had gone overseas, and served, he was re-numbered. It is my understanding the the high numbers were only used for the reserve in Canada. IF he went active, he was given an active service force number. I have had a couple of tunics for fellows in that circumstance, and the active number was written in the tunic as well.
The battle wear comment doesn't hold up. The tunics that were worn on front line service were withdrawn and destroyed or re-cycled. The soldier was issued new bd on his way home in 1945. Even if it was a fatigue bd, or the second set, the damage would be attributable to work details.

As mentioned on previous posts, any tunics from this vendor should be approached with caution.

double ugh...
The battle wear comment is laughable. the mothy titles look waaaay out of place while the rest of the jacket is reasonable.Bill is right...soldiers who initially served in Reserve units received a different number after going active...at least this has been my understanding from talking to several vets who served in Canada in the Reserve army only to go active and serve overseas. This whole BD collection is starting to smell like someone with an overactive imagination and an even more active sewing machine....

spurious sewing..
Check out the areas where the arrows point....the tailor in question has actually altered the sewing line to catch certain areas of the damaged titles suggesting that these destroyed titles were put on in their current condition....why would anyone do that?
