Wolverhampton OTC
A previously unrecorded Wolverhampton OTC appeared on ebay last week. I have never seen or read about this version existing before.

Hi Alan,
Just noticed in my K&K that the badge there that badge number 2716 actually states on the scroll Wolverhampton U.T.C making it probably a post WW2 era badge. K&K appear to have entered in error that the scroll says Wolverhampton O.T.C which looking at the picture it does not. Maybe the badge on e bay after all is the correct badge for the O.T.C circa WW1. I know nothing about OTC but there definitely appears to be a connection between Wolverhampton Grammer School and the badge .

That edn must be a typo as UTC were only ever senior division and it's impossible for a Grammar School to be a UTC. OTC, CC, JTC or CCF are all possible.
I wonder if it was an early pattern of the WGS badge shown in K&K 2716 which was in use in 1937 for certain. |

The school's website has a history section showing a group of soldiers from 1918, do the drums at their feet show the crest on the badge ?

The date of the photo is more 1945 rather than 1918 but its the school badge on the drums with a Staffs cap badge.

You do wonder about their archivist! The BD is the WW2 economy pattern with gaiters. It does provide a useful end date for the OTC badge though.
