Spurious Collars?
Can anyone shed any light on these collar badges, they were in a lot bought at auction and were listed as TYNE Engineers, when I received them and opened the bag two out of five were correct, with nine flames.but the three in the pictures only have seven flames which would normally indicate Artillery. No makers marks are present, my question is was there a TYNE Artillery, are these indeed Engineer collar badges. I know there were Engineer collars with ten flames in certain circumstances and Countries, but I have never seen any Engineer dogs with seven flames

A long and complex history but.....
When the TA doubled in size in 1938 following the Munich Crisis, the TEE formed a duplicate unit as a Light Anti-Aircraft (LAA) regiment of the Royal Artillery (RA). This was designated 37th (Tyne Electrical Engineers) LAA Regiment, RA (TA). Tim

Tyne Electrical Engineers It also shows how the name Tyne lives on in smaller and smaller units until 1967.

Still looking for another 9-flame Tyne collar for my territorial engineers collar badge board.
Good to hear they come up every now and again but also a good reminder to count those flames!
