Cloth Insignia I like South Wales Borderers
Hi Team
I have added to my collection "Embroidered insignia I like", which really can encompass any embroidered insignia,RN, RAF, Auxilary, blazer patches etc.. These are literally outside my knowledge in a lot of cases. So with that said I will be listing some embroidered insignia that I would like to know more information so I can document and database them. When could these have been issued, what were they designed for , the construction , the colour, are these meant to be part of a tapestry? The firt SWB is 170mm Dia: Grey sphinx Green SWB letters The second is 120mm Dia. White Sphinx yellow EGYPT letters cheers Phill |

Beautiful items! I think they are privately made civilian handywork by a skilled embroiderer, and not issue badges if any kind.

hard to date these Phil, they might even be great war as many were made then I believe and condition is all about storage, but I could not date them with any certainty. The second of the two truly is stunning and might be a professionally made item as cb suggested, though the first looks typical for the hospital made types imo.

Thanks Jerry
I appreciate all the information as I find these are wonderful pieces of embroidery, that represents a specific time in history that is seldom covered me thinks. Hoping more info will come forth. Phill |
