HAC White metal grenade cap badge
Are there any pointers for identifying a period HAC White metal grenade cap badge?

Alan,
All the ones I see appear modern/current issue. I wonder if the WM version was actually worn pre 1950/60's? regards

I think that they were adopted post war but the metal ones have been widely faked.

This is mine, the best (IMO) I’d seen from an unconvincing bunch.

Hi Alan,
As far as I know, and if still worn, the A/A versions of the grenade version of this badge are still current issue as per the 1960's. Currently and again, as far as I know, there is no authorised 'New Metal' grenade version of the badge for the Honourable Artillery Company although the traditional Crest and Motto beret design for Other Ranks is officially authorised and issued in 'New Metal'. The only HAC grenade I have in white metal, it appears to have some age to it.
Gaylor stated the W/M version was adopted in 1954, Kipling & King doesn't show the plain W/M version only silver anodised aluminium (stating the W/M with brass "HAC" was sealed 9th March 1954, silver anod. with gold anod. "HAC" 28th November 1952). |
