5th Dragoon Guards-pouch / martingale ?

Can anyone throw some light on exactly what this badge is ?
It is clearly Victorian 5th Dragoon Guards. It has a central screw fitting with a thickish fibre washer and nut still in place. On the reverse ( behind the crown ) is an unthreaded pin ( to keep the badge in place ) It measures just under 90mm by about 85mm. It is solidly made in brass.

I think they are pouch badges, I have a brass and an Officers one.

Not only does it identify this particular badge, but I also find that I have sabretache badges to the 2nd and 6th Dragoon Guards. They are very impressive looking badges. I can see why collecting to cavalry is so popular.

According to Langridge. These were later worn as pouch badges. By the band of the 5th Royal Inniskilling Dragoon Guards. I've seen these in cast brass, with two screw posts north and south. Is the cast brass version the later type, or a copy aimed at collectors?
