Default Queen's Gurkha Engineers - Shouler Titles

There were Gurkha Engineer units during WW2, however the Queens Gurkha Engineers was not formed until 1977. I was surprised to learn that in 1977 the shoulder titles the unit wore were made from brass, with black enamel. Does anyone know how many different shoulder titles there are to collect to this unit?

Thank you.

Hi JJ,
The gurkha engineers were formed in 1947/8 in Malaya, as 67 field Sqn RE, at this stage they were members of the Royal Eng. They wore normal metal RE shoulder titles painted black.
A one off embroided battledress title was made for the contingent of RE (gurkha) attending the coronation by the camp tailor. this read 'Royal Engineers' over 'Gurkha', black lettering on a Red rocker. This is a rarity.

In 1955 title changed to Gurkha engineers. The shoulder titles for battledress wear now read 'Gurkha engineers' and were ordnance issue. For Jungle greens the title was a blackend brass 'G.E' .

1977 they were granted the honour of 'Queens' the titles changed to Q.G.E in both AA and blackend brass.

So there you have it six types in all.

When I get a chance I'll attach a picture.

Steve
