Unusual RAOC belt buckle
Hi folks
This just arrived, an RAOC belt buckle, looks sort of gilt but I must confess to never having seen one before. Any ideas anyone? Is it fictitious? Might it be off a girdle or an officers levee type full dress belt? Cheers Sean |

I agree, Its a circa 1920's RAOC Officers Full Dress Buckle I believe,
The earlier AOD example was the shield only, which also continued to be used Never seen one in the flesh, and think of me if you wish to move it on. |

Thrilled to hear that Mike, I have seen the earlier buckles of course but they look more ornate unlike this post Royal one.
Will bear what you've said in mind Mike but will be keeping this as RAOC/ RASC are my main collecting area (because of dad He left as a WO1 SSM RAOC in 1976) Please don't think I'm gloating but it cost £6 on eBay! Many thanks again Mike appreciate your confirmation. Cheers Sean |

These are on their way to me too Mike. Any thoughts on these or are they just variations of standard OR's belt plates from white nylon belt (other than the brass stable belt buckle)

Two on the left are as you say belt buckles for the White or Green plastic belt used on things like passing out parades and by RP staff etc
Top right is from a Stable Belt and these were changed to Chrome Plated within 2 years in the mid 60's (I have a spare complete example) they were collected at unit level and sent back to Hobsons for plating Bottom right is an Ordnance issue Pipers Buckle produced by JR Guant |

Mike....you're a superstar, you've just made my day...again! I thought the bottom right was a bit larger but I would never have thought of a pipers plate. Really pleased.
The brass stable belt buckle I already had but didn't know it was only used for two years. Also just to pick you're brains ....I have a silver coloured anodised RAOC cap badge on the way to me, were these just manufacturers errors or worn by pipers. I've seen your fab wm/silver pipers cap badge and pipers brooches already. Many thanks again for all the info. Cheers Sean |
