Merchant Taylors School Crosby OTC officers collar badge ?
Bought an interesting lot on E bay that comprised insignia that had belonged to "Bugs" Butler Wright a teacher at Merchant Taylors School Crosby and who I believe had served in WW1 with the Liverpool Rifles ( 6th Kings Liverpools ) and who afterwards was the C.O. of the MTS Crosby OTC.
Included in the lot are a pair of blackened brass collars, a pair of white metal collars, a pair of blackened brass "C"s, buttons, rank insignia but most interesting of all a blackened brass shield shaped badge with lugs east and west comprising part of the school crest and with the makers name Thomas Fattorini Birmingham on the back. My best guess is that the last badge is an officers collar badge for the OTC but if anyone can confirm this or offer any other explanation of what the badge is for, if not an officers collar badge, I would be pleased to hear. Attached are copies of a letter from Butler Wrights daughter when she originally sold the items. (Thanks to Tim for his input ) P.B.

Peter,
Good to see better photographs than those in the original auction. It would be great to find out more about Butler Wright and that MTS collar badge. Tim MTS Crosby 1962-1969
