Default Then & Now

After seeing voltigeur's picture post on the INN'S OF COURT OTC at Berkhamsted and knowing where the picture was taken I was wondering if anyone else has or knows of old pictures of interest and have comparison pictures taken recently to see the changes (or not) of perhaps 100 years that have past.

Two pictures of Lime Street, Liverpool outside St. Georges Hall. The first picture is of Lord Kitchener who stood for three quarters of an hour as 12,000 locally recruited members of the New Army marched past on 20th March 1915.

The second photograph taken on 28th February 2016 when St. Georges Hall came under siege when North West Infidels began to clash with police and anti-fascist protestors .

What a difference 101 years make. As someone who was inside the hall at an Antique Fair at the time of the "siege" I have to say it was not pleasant, I have still to receive my campaign medal for the siege.

The 1915 photo is taken from "X" on the attached map ( possibly from one of the upper floors of the old North Western Hotel ) on the opposite side of Lime Street to the St. Georges Hall.

The more recent photo is taken at ground level at "Y" immediately in front of the Hall.

Another of the inns of court OTC at Berkhamstead, they are probably just on the fence line behind the goal posts in the 3rd picture in post 1.
