Very interesting thread for me as I am not that knowledgeable on RAF badges. have attached a bronze version of the economy type badge in the collection. May I ask what era it was worn and by what rank group? I have labelled it a WOs badge out of ignorance.

It is a WO badge. I also have one and believe it could be for the Royal Australian Air Force, in WWII, as most of their cap badges were "bronzed".

There you go Alex, as mentioned "Sterling Silver Gold Plated Cap Badge" Approved by Air Ministry (Order No 83, Apl 17/18)
for Officers of the Royal Air Force

Dave - you've labelled your Gaunt WWI badge as 'silver'. Were these badges gilded silver or is there a maker plate to indicate it is silver?
Cheers,
