Default Durban Mounted Rifles title?

Hi All,

does anyone perhaps have a Durban Mounted Rifles title, if there was one? There is no mention in Owens

TIA

Iain

Iain,

I stand to be corrected, but as the DMR was amalgamated with the NMR in 1888, and pre general use of shoulder titles, I suspect there was never one.

Thanks, there isn't one in Owen's; someone has a title which I say is Die Middellandse Regt but he claims it's Durban MR

If it is a D over MR, than definitely 'Die Middellandse Regt'

Ask if you can post a picture to get confirmation...

Hi Frank,

he reckons it's a cut out badge so it must be old

So certainly and very obviously nothing whatsoever to do with any Natal Volunteer Corps.

Default DMR titles

Some titles that I have in my collection that may be of interest to this topic.

Two on right I think fit the period (similar to other titles I have from around the zulu war period).

The one next to the HP is w/m similar to those worn by UVR / BMR Boer War period.

Thanks Shahl,

seems to be Durban or District Mounted Rifles but not as the Middellandse Regt.

regards, Iain

Shahi,
Is your DMR HP intact, or is there something missing from the
Left of the monogram? The QVC seems off centre.
