Red over Blue (or Green) Plume - Which Unit?
Does anybody know which unit wore this small horse hair or hog bristle brush please?
It's coloured red over blue or possibly red over green (St Patrick's blue?) It measures about 14 cm in length including the brass stem and has a brass possibly, gilded, retaining ring. |

Hi Leigh
I've checked my lists, on Cavalry, Yeomanry and Regular Rifle Regiments and it doesn't come up, I barely have any info on Volunteers so might be a Volunteer Regt/BN but would love to know when you find out Regards Sean |

Although it is decribed as black and red this one for The Rifles Band and Bugles looks a 'possible' candidate.

Here's one that I have in the same colours but feather as opposed to two tier horse hair. But it remains a mystery to me.

The red and black plumes confuse me, used by so many regular, Volunteer and TF units including KRRC, Greenjackets, The Rifles, red over black for some personnel, black over red for others in the same unit. |

Never considered Liverpool Irish as my plume appears to be old, and just spotted this photo on tinter web which looks like an older one but as you say colours reversed.
And as always we're straying from the subject of your two tier horse feather plume, cheers Sean Last edited by sapper533; 31-05-20 at 12:32 PM. |

I think there's a thread or two covering the Liverpool Irish and their hackles (cue Mr Brydon).
I have this flat one labelled as Tyne RE. |
