Duke of York's Royal Military School
Received today is a Duke of York's Royal Military School anodised cap badge.
It looked a bit grubby to me so I gave it a wash and low & behold it appears to be a SILVER anodised badge with a London Badge & Button Company Ltd maker mark. I have looked at it from various angles and it still looks silver anodised to me. Can you explain this - Band? Error? ?? Jerry

I'd say an error Jerry.
The part that's usually gold has no anodising at all by the look of it. Raw aluminium by the look of it, refer to Bess's post in the Welsh Guards thread showing a Scots Guards badge. The EIIR looks like it may have some silver on it. That's just looking at the images. I'd need to have it in my hand to see it properly. |

It may well be an alluminium 'blank' before its colour anodising process. For some reason I have a few of these and I suppose it's a bit of a mystery how they end up on the market. However, they do turn up. Attached a Notts & Derby, which appears very similar.:-
