Default Question regarding lugs

As an amateur I have not had an opportunity to handle a great many King's Crown 28th (Swan) Regt badges but those I have been fortunate enough to see all appear to have had the lugs mounted east/west.

I have just come across a badge that has the lugs mounted north/south......the first 28th I have seen that way. Does anyone have any King's Crown 28th badges lugged that way that would indicate simply a variation or, with the proliferation of dodgy badges coming out of Bulgaria, and a lot of Aussies among them, is it an indication the badge may not be genuine.I find I have become very cautious these days.

Any comments?

The dodgy Bulgarian ones are made from a different metal to the original ones and are easy to tell apart from the real ones.

If the front and back of the badge look ok (crisply struck etc) then I would say its just a different manufacturer.

Thanks Mick! That is a bit reassuring! I guess I was a bit concerned, too, at a what appeared to be a couple of dimples in the surface and a distinct break in that line under the "28". Unfortunately I do not have the badge at hand for photographs.
