Help with badge identification please
I believe this man to be a member of the Canadian Expeditionary Force during WW1. I'm trying to identify the badge on his pocket. Sorry for the quality of the photo but it is the only one I have - I've tried everything to read the words on the badge but failed. Does anyone out there recognise it?

TRY SCANNING AT 300 DPI and see if you get better results . Also if you have a magnifyer try looking through it some words may come up. Looks like a ribbon of sorts

Would if I could Paul but I don't own the original - the photo was emailed to me several years ago by someone with whom I am now out of touch. So I can't get a new scan. I have tried picture enhancement, magnification, you name it. I was hoping someone might recognise it by the fish like symbol at the bottom.

as good as i can get it
I think this is a medallion of some sort, tipped up by the sleeve of his arm. Competition medal of some sort?
Could be Latin, could be a date -- to me the third line (above what appears to be a fretwork or scroll line separator) is "O(?)CET". Line above that looks like "_ _ AD 10". Maybe it will ring some bells. When you open the thumbnail, try standing way back from your screens and squinting! |

Hey Paul, 300 DPI, I would have recommended 1600 DPI. It puts a heck of burden on an older system but WOW does it ever bring out minute details very well. I did this with many of the Second World War photos I was loaned by the Irish Regiment of Canada Veterans Association. My results were incredible.
