Serif's
Dwayne you were suggesting that the Lorne Scots title in my post was post war because there was no serifs, Are you saying that all ww2 titles should have serifs? I remember getting a Garrison Bn. ( 1st) & (2nd) from Kasman in Weston two of my earlier titles,The Kasmans made uniforms and fitted them out for war time troops so I'd say this one would be ww2 & it dosen't have serifs. Any comment. Hi Ray. Serifs are one indicator of the age / period of the shoulder title (and some formation patches). As a general rule, serifs are found on older titles vs newer ones. But it is not a hard and fast rule. The Lorne Scots title is a good example of the wartime title having serifs and post war not, but not all titles follow that example.

Thanks Bill, When I was collectingthem nobody seemed to know much, and I was just collecting them to identifiable my badges because half the badges are not self identifyable from 6 feet away. Ray

Dating of titles
..as Bill mentionned is certainly not a hard and fast science. There are certainly some indicators of age based on the design of certain units titles. Serifs are one area for units such as the Lorne Scots, Provost and Seaforths to name a few.
