5th Bn. East Yorkshire
Wonder what Forum members make of this badge. Found at a car boot sale. It looks convincing and it is of a stout manufacture but I do have doubts. The slider has been stamped. I M.V.42 . Could this be the owner's initials and date of issue or a manufacturer's mark? Were the 5th Bn still wearing the blackened badge in 1942? I would be pleased to receive any help.

Thank you
Thank you - that actually explains quite a lot. Do you think the stamping is the man's name?

IMV is the maker, 42 is the year. A great badge

By the way it is IMW, not IMV

Thank you
Well spotted! Even with a jewellers eye glass it's difficult to see it's a W.

IMW

Thanks for that Rob. That helps me with a RA cast cap badge with IMW 42 on the slider.

Whilst we are at it, any ideas on "I. L. S.' on another cast RA slider?

Previous discussion of "IMW".
I think have only a Royal Norfolk Regiment cap badge marked to this manufacturer. https://www.britishbadgeforum.com/fo...al+Metal+Works |

A very nice badge! Aligarh was a center for badge making. Quite well made compared to many Indian badges.
