Default Shanghai Volunteer Corps badge

Hi all,

I got this badge and like it was ID-d here, it is a Shanghai Volunteer Corps cap badge. Does anybody with more knowledge can tell me what period this type was in use? I can't find much information online and also SVC cap badge that mainly pop up, are different. Is it a collar instead, pretty large for a collar then?

Not really my thing so just wanted to educate myself before I move it on.

Should I pend the lugs back or leave it as it is? There is some piece of tread attached underneath? Probably how it was displayed a long time ago because its looks old.

Thank you,

Timo

Hi Timo,

Nice badge. You are correct in identifying it as a Shanghai Volunteer Corps badge and to be more specific it's an OR's hat badge circa 1900. I personally wouldn't touch the lugs for fear of damaging them.

I'd be interested in the badge should you move it on.

Good collecting

Paul
