Button Identification
Hello I need some help regarding an old button I have found. Its gold in colour, around 2cm in diameter and the back reads :Miller Rayner & Haysom Ltd * (I have looked online and have not found many with a star shape after the Ltd). The front has a roped edge, a flag with a thistle with in it. There is no writing on the front of the button.
I would greatly appreciate any help you could give me (I will put a photo up later today...Battery needs charging in the camera). Thank you Last edited by ltat7884; 22-11-11 at 10:12 PM. |

Miller, Rayner & Haysom backmarks are found mainly on maritime (shipping line) buttons. Any chance of a photo?

Hi there,
Rex - A good spot about the maker's mark and maritime buttons. There was a shipping line called the "ALBYN LINE LIMITED". Their buttons had the usual rope rim, a strap which contained the company name ("ALBYN LINE LIMITED") and to the centre inside the strap a flag on a flag pole, with a thistle on the flag. Maybe something to do with them. Cheers Ian |
