Hi guys and girls,

Can anybody tell me who would have worn this police cap badge, please?

I am guessing the National Crime Squad?

Phil, I am after this badge aswell, it is on my wants list. I believe it was worn by British police officers in Bosnia, Croatia etc when attached to the UN instead of there own force badge.
National Crime squad, SOCA and the like are mainly in plain clothes- sneeky beakys

Gents,

It was not worn as a cap badge. It actually has pins and clutches on the back and was worn on epaulettes. Caps are not worn by UK officers on attachment to the UN. They wear berets and the UN generic badge.

Default UK Police
It was also worn as an epaulette badge by UK Civil Police Officers working at the Police Academy established south of Basra (Az Zubayr) in S.Iraq in 2004.

Phil,

Sorry mate. I have had them in the past but simply passed them on. Because it was not a cap badge as such I didn't keep one myself. They turn up on eBay from time to time.

The badge, along with its shoulder strap & "button" - a kind of press stud that was merely an ornament, it didn't actually clip to anything.
If you look at it long enough, the design on the button begins to resemble a rose.
I had assumed that although worn on shoulder straps when serving with the UN, this badge would be worn in the cap or beret when serving with some other organisations?

should have mentioned - the shoulder strap was worn in UNMISET, East Timor, 2003 - 04.
