Default Yorkshire Hussars

Having been advised previously on the Forum on what to look for in a Yorkshire Hussars badge, I picked one up from Andy Plewa earlier this week, which I show alongside the common fake seen on eBay and on some dealer sites.

Unfortunately for me the faker nearly (but not quite) got this one right and I find it difficult to tell them apart from just a cursory glance at the front. Of course there are definitely some tells once the eye is in and time is taken to study them.

Without looking at the backs did you spot which was which?
Mark

The fake has the overly large and round petal surface which gives it an almost Mickey Mouse ear effect.

I do like your analogies - the Johnny Cash and Anne of Cleves Lincs and now the Micky Mouse Yorks Hussars.

Thanks Mark.

Shamelessly I admit it is intentional. The more odd/funny things sound I find stick in the memory so hopefully they can serve as a subliminal aide-mémoire.
