As you mention him Thomas I couldn't begin to imagine the odds of either badge being bronzed in the same shed that spawned the 10,000% dud KRRC badge that Andy landed for himself in a recent online auction. Good that it was pointed out on the forum, in the hope of avoiding it landing on the buyer's door mat only to disappoint. Regards Ry Last edited by Charlie 585; 11-06-16 at 09:33 PM. Reason: typo |

Thanks for your words of wisdom, so fakes then? What to do, clean or destroy?

Two more, the RASC badge is obviously later than the official dates for long sliders.

What do you mean by "the official dates for long sliders" ?
Yes, there is documentary evidence for long ones between 1903 and 1906, there is physical evidence for long ones in the later years of the 1st WW and again in the 1930s for wear on the reintroduced 'side caps' !? They were also used on 'pugaree' badges. |

I meant 1903-1906 as you state. My EviiiR cyphered badge could be construed as evidence of 1930's use of long sliders, if it is not a fake.

Bedfordshire & Hertfordshire Regiment
Actual length of "slider" is 50mm from bottom to where it is brazed to the back of the badge. about 45mm from the bend to bottom. Last edited by Nozzer; 17-02-18 at 10:21 PM. |

Lol I always felt that they should have gone with the first design..... Hertfordshire Regiment cap badge with a small W/M scroll attached to the bottom "& BEDFORDSHIRE REGT."

Here shown next to a badge from the same die, but with a more normal slider.

Not the longest of long sliders on these next two badges (42mm each), which begs the question as to where the line between a long slider and an average length slider should be.
