It looks like a ship's crest patch. The RCN has worn something like that on the workdress uniform, and cadets have a similar type of patching.

The 5-sided shape is the giveaway. The RN, Canada, Australia [I think] and i suspect India, pakistan and South Africa use this shape for ship's crests.

Canadian ships' badges are all round. Many Royal Canadian Sea Cadet Corps use the five sided badge.

It's the same crest for HMS Furious.
Various ships in the British fleet had the name over time. One a Fleet Aircraft Carrier in WW2. Badges available as magnets or patches in Portsmouth. Paul |
