Liberated 2NZEF POW's

Here's a question, A 4th Brigade Soldier is captured in Crete then gets shipped off to Italy and is liberated in 1945, what would his Battledress blouse look like?
Does he wear his red square flashes or the green Armoured ones and would he be eligible for the Italy ribbon?
