Default Royal Corps of Transport badge on TV

Seen on UK television last night 29/07/2020 on a program called Emmerdale, a TV soap set in Yorkshire.
A Police Detective Inspectors warrant card is found and when opened it has a...Royal Corps of Transport cap badge for the Police force badge.
A new use for a defunct cap badge.

Yeah Tim, I remember seeing that episode and also Gary Windass (current Corrie actor) wore a RAOC badge when he was in the Army

Ello, ello ello,

Be careful who you talk too Jerry, otherwise i will have to take down your particulars and beat you with the soggy ends.

That reminds me of something that happened to me and Theresa.

We were on our way to the Cenotaph Parade about a year or 2 ago. I was dressed in my regulation blazer with, shirt, tie and RCT badge, when we got to Aldershot Stn i was approached by a little black kid, (who was with his mother) and asked "What police force are you with"??

Needless to say i corrected him forthwith and stated i was a veteran soldier of the ROYAL CORPS OF TRANSPORT !!! lol

Nice to see our badges turning up all over the place though.
The RCT's Facebook sites were truely alive over the next few nights after the show, with everyone mentioning it and and being silly as to how the tv could get it so wrong

Lots of warrant card holders on ebay with RCT and GS cap badges attached. I wonder if Emmerdale sourced it from there?
