Default Royal Irish Regiment AA

Hi Bess, Very nice collection there with some rarities, the Royal Irish Regiment also wear a Royal Irish Rangers AA badge on the Pipers purse/sporran however I don't know if this badge is a lugged version or a slidered version.

anyone aware which variety it is? regards John

There have been a few Royal Irish Rangers badges with N/S lugs on eBay recently, described as belt plate badges, could they be sporran badges?

Hi Leigh, Thanks I just looked at my belt buckle the N S lugs are flat and quite short, so not sure if they are able to be Purse/Sporran badges. however I'm not dismissing your suggestion it's certainly possible. regards John

Default ROYAL IRISH RANGERS

The Royal Irish Rangers cap badge (left) with lugs E&W. Belt plate badge (middle) short square lugs N&S. And Royal Irish Regiment sporran badge (right) with slightly longer lugs than the cap badge, fitted N&S. The sporran badge is not of great quality, not sure if recent issue have in proved any.

Ta - looks like the ones I've seen on evilbay are actually belt plate badges.

Ah, excellent thank you chaps. Mine attached. I also have an odd all silver one with the stubby 'belt plate badge' lugs, only they are east & west. Also I have another all silver example with pin and clasps on the back, these are North and South. Again, any ideas? I wondered if they might be an RP brassard badge or something similar?

Hi Bess, Again nice collection there, certainly could've been worn on a brassard by the PS PC and RP's. regards John
