Default Black Watch Battalion A.C.F. badge

Dear All,
I've had a look but can't find any info on this, my latest acquisition. It's a cast Queens Crown Black Watch badge made from 3 pieces, which has on the top scroll "BLACK WATCH" and on the bottom scroll "BATTALION A.C.F."

The seller stated it was worn by Officers and pipers of said unit, but I've not been able to find any photos of such a badge.

Grateful for any info or corroboration of this info. I presume all these badges were cast aside when the Black Watch Battalion ACF in Scotland became part of the sucessor unit, The Royal Regiment of Scotland?

I did find pictures of Pipers from the ACF Pipes and Drums Band wearing ACF cap badges and if anybody has one of them going spare I'b be very interested.

Ian,

I think I noticed the badge on E bay although I didn't look at it closely as I didn't realise that if actually has " Battalion ACF " on the scrolls.

I may be wrong but I cannot imagine it is anything but a genuine example as, if it wasn't, you might have expected the market to have been flooded with examples.

I think ( and hope ) you might well have an example of a very nice badge there.

P.B.

It ticked 3 of my boxes. I collect Cadet badges, I collect Pipers badges and I collect Officers badges. I knew I'd not seen one of these previously, or if I had I hadn't realised what it was. Time to carefully examine every BW officers type badge I see now. I couldn't even find a description of one of these on the internet. Now I've described it I trust others may find one too.

If it is for pipes and drums then it will be privately made so may be difficult to find evidence of it outside the band itself.

It is a lovely badge. Cadets and bands in particular have a habit of 'stretching' dress regulations and there are a number that wear obsolete badges ie the Essex and the RMLI. .
