Hello Tom, This pattern of title is fully embroidered in synthetic thread. There was a lot of confusion at the time Garrison Dress was worn. Many units simply adopted the fully embroidered cadet titles for use on the GD. Some units had titles specifically made for GD. Short lived pattern, now obsolete.

Default Garrison Dress/Cadet Insignia

As Bill stated, in many cases, especially for Infantry regiments, the Garrison Dress and the Cadet shoulder flash insignia are both the same. Of course one is always wise to check, as at times there were exceptions.

Because the garrison uniform was so short lived, some of the regular force unit and branch flashes are fairly tough to get.
Try finding a white on red SECURITAS for the military police.

Default RCR

The Garrison flashes worn by the Royal Canadian Regiment were a newly introduced badge quite different from the Cadet issues. Interestingly,I still have my RCR Cadet issue titles from worn by me from 78-81ish and the Garrison titles I wore in the early 90's....quite different, I,ll try and dig them out for scanning if anyone is interested.

Default Garrison Dress Branch Shoulder Badges

Not every Branch of the CF had them produced, but here are a few that were issued before Garrison Dress was phased out in the late 1990s. Cadets may still be using the top two.

A couple of things to note, GD titles mostly are fully embroidered with merrowed edges. The titles have to reflect the bi-lingual nature of Canada, or if unilingual, like Securitas (think of all the nasty slang versions that can become...), they must be acceptable to both languages. (Not sure of the correct term for my last point...)

And now some of the affiliated Cadet Corps have adopted the retired Garrison Dress pattern badge for wear. This includes lots ordered by the Regimental Warehouse well after the Army ceased wearing Garrison Dress.
