Will have to keep my eye open for one then!

I was visting an ex RAOC friend at his house in Catterick a few years ago and saw an all Silver QC RAOC Badge just lying on his desk, with a J.R. GUANT mark and managed to get it from him as part of a trade, but have never come accross one for sale!

Only documented usage of an all Silver badge was by the pipers of 51 Ordnance Field Park (V) Pipe Band at Glasgow c1957/58 where 'White Metal' as well as 'Silver Plated' badges are also meantioned.

I also have a 'Silver Plated' metal badge with un-marked slider from a Scottish source, as well as a wide badged buckle and Pliad Brooch.

J.R. Guant also produced Car Badges with Chrome Plated RAOC badge (and other Regiments & Corps) with 2 bolts top & bottom, I have both KC & QC examples plus a un-used QC with longer un-cut bolts.

Hi Dave,

There are very, very few fake A/A cap badges. There are though a small number of unoffiical commissions and a few 'created' TAVR III pieces after the original contracts were cancelled. All are quite easy to identify with a bit of knowledge - see Chapter 15: Fakes and Reproductions and Chapter 17: A Tangle of Territorials.

Your badges are 100% OK.

Regards

Chris

Hi Dave,

As an aside: Gaunt B'HAM badges, in A/A, are OK with Master Pattern Cards existing with such marked A/A badges.

Regards

Chris

Thanks Chris,

I am one of those people who couldn't spot a fake even if that was stamped on the badge, as for the Marples & Beasley badge, there has been so much written re Officers badges etc, I did have my doubts.

Sadly, although I only had a couple of dozen A/A badges, they are now going but hey ho, we all have changes of heart at some time and my London collection will gain, I hope.

Again thanks, take care.

Dave.
