Finally... A 250 CEF
It's been a long wait to finally get my hands on this badge... I'm now missing an arm and a leg but am very pleased as it basically finishes my Manitoba badges... Jim

Nice badge Jim. There was a bit of controversy about the bird in the design, and the falcon was approved.

I have always referje to this badge by its nickname..aWhite Eagle...interesting to,that it is a Falcon...From Winnipeg I wonder if there would be any connection to, the Winnipeg Falcons hockey team....As far as I know the whole team of Icelandic Canadian boys enlisted in the 223 Battalion....The team reunited after the war and went on to win the first ever Olympic gold medal for hockey.

Hi Jim, The original design submitted to the Dept of Militia indicated the bird was a White Eagle and the motto would be White Eagles. It was discovered that the White Eagle was the national symbol of Poland and it was not approved. The new bird (which looked awfully similar to the original submission), was deemed to be a falcon and the motto was changed to WINNIPEG. A rose by any other name...
