Does anyone know what these are ? Not mines and my friend wondered were they colonial police possibly they are silver tone

I believe that these are Indian Army Unattached Officer's buttons.

They were certainly worn by the Hong Kong Police.

I'm guessing the Edward ones are 1901 to 1910 ?

I've done some googling and it seems that there was 300 new police recruited in 1900ish for the new territories. My friend asked if Officers buttons were silver plate ?

Not too sure about HKP officers buttons being silver plated as I do not have either of the buttons that you pictured. They definately had horn and white metal. The officers of the Hong Kong Volunteer Corps had silver plated Edward VII butttons but they were made by Firmin.

So he has decided to list the Edward VII hong kong police Button on ebay at this number 254692806351

He has told me that if either of you win to let me know and he will remove UK postage so hopefully you are both in the UK if you arent I'll speak to him and tell him to give the same discount on international

Take care to ensure that your "friend" does not use you to obtain information on particular items with a view to selling the item. He appears to be a dealer. That in itself is not a problem. But forum rules are that such items intended for sale should be offered to forum members first. If the item is to be sold, you should make that clear when you first ask for information in respect of it.

As an aside, the button is of no interest to me.
