Default ASC side cap?

The attached pictures are of a side cap I bought yesterday from a fellow Forum member. Neither of us are too sure about its heritage so any ideas will be appreciated.

The colouring is that of 'transport' units but the only other coloured side cap I've seen which is vaguely similar is that of the RASC/RCT, but they have a white crown. This one only has white crown piping.
There are no internal maker's marks other than the size.
The badge is a brooched 'sweetheart' of some sort, showing signs of having once been enamelled. There are no obvious indications of other badges having been fitted to it.
The two buttons are GM General Service ones.

Many thanks. Stephen.

Default ASC side hat

No one veturing a comment? Over 70 of you have looked at this and yet I'm still no wiser.

Having done a bit of poking around I realise it isn't RASC, but is 'similar' to the Northants Regt as drawn in 'Regimental badges & Service caps'. Has anyone got an RCT or Northant's Regt coloured FS cap to compare with this please?

Thanks, Stephen.

Hiya Stephen, I've not wanted to comment on this as of yet, but now seems a good idea.

The Army Service Corps fs cap, i cannot comment on at the moment.

The RASC & RCT fs caps have;
White crowned tops, are Navy Blue/ Black & have Yellow Piping on the fringes.

I will get back to you on the ASC version, but believe it to be;
White crowned top with White Piping on the fringes.

Sorry i can't be more specific at the moment though
Hope this helps you
Cheers FBK

Hiya "again" Stephen

I've just got home and have been having a look around, for a FS Cap, like yours, on the "NET" !!

Low and behold, i've come across a similar looking FS Cap, photo is in B/W, but it defo looks the same, with an all Navy Blue/Black colour and white piping on the fringes.

Army Medical Corps 1895
Scroll to the bottom of the page.
points to note:- Porkpie hat being worn as well.

Looks like you may have still have a great buy Stephen, hopefully.

Any opinions are welcome guys.

I don't think the ASC had a FS Cap ???
It wouldn't have been suitable for wear in the open air, if you were riding a horse or driving an "automobile" or Internal combustion engined vehicle.
IMO of course.

Hope this has helped you, Cheers FBK
